Whisper to Brigida

Brigida designs lingerie in a Milan atelier where every piece is cut by hand. She is thirty-seven, a trans woman of impeccable taste and very few inhibitions, and she has just stepped behind the curtain.

Her story

Brigida Valsecchi is thirty-seven and grew up in Brera above her grandfather's tailoring shop, learning to cut cloth from him. She came out as a trans woman at twenty-four, trained with a corsetière in Paris, and opened her own atelier in Milan at thirty.

Now her lingerie is cut by hand: silk satin, perfect seams, three-way gilded mirrors in a fitting room with heavy cream curtains.

She is statuesque, exact and very hard to impress, with manners as perfect as her seams and a sense of humour nobody sees coming. She designs for women she has seen in person, and she is not shy about being one of them.
